Before you take that plunge, let’s look at some of the reasons that you might not be getting as many visitors to your website as you’d like.
Marketing Plan – Have you Got One?
Marketing is a time-consumptive activity – that’s a given. However, if you want traffic, you’re going to have to work for it. Unlike the movie Field of Dreams, the “if we build it they will come” mentality will get you basically nowhere when it comes to traffic generation for your website. There are literally billions of websites on the Internet, so there’s a slim chance anyone will find yours unless you tell them about it – or have great SEO skills and tons of quality backlinks to support your wishes.
If traffic isn’t coming – drag them in! Your marketing plan should have sound lines of attack that will keep a steady flow of traffic coming your way. A good marketing campaign might include PPC campaigns, email marketing, article marketing, social networking, and more.
Run Your Stats
Look at your website statistics. Are your links working for you? How much traffic is coming to your website from your affiliated links? It may be the time to consider a new linking campaign in order to find the quality and quantity of traffic that you are reaching for. Are you actively posting in forums, and if so, are the forums as active as they were when you registered with them? If not, find some new online communities to join in order to send new traffic your way.
Are you Spending Your Time Wisely?
Most of your time should be spent marketing the website that you have built and generating traffic for it. If you’re doing good as far as traffic goes for awhile and then feeling confident and “slacking” off, then you’ll find your efforts taking you in a backward direction. Are you working enough hours to receive the results you want/need for your website? It’s all about dedication, and if you don’t have time to dedicate to making yours website a success, then it might be wise to bring in some “hired guns” that can put the best interests of your website at the top of their list.

The secret is to make sure the work gets done, even if you can’t spare the time to do it all yourself. There are tons of freelance sites out there where you can find everything from programmers to social networkers to article writers – and most of them are working at very (low) competitive rates that fit well within even the most meager budgets.
